DAYS UNTIL THE 2013 AMERICA’S CUP: 657 AND COUNTING….
THE INAUGURAL ROLLINGTIDE OVERTIME: AMERICA’S CUP PREVIEW
Why You Should Care:
Did I get your attention? I agree, that looked expensive. In fact, that little AC45 catamaran only cost around $1 Million, and just last week met it’s Waterloo for a momentary second at the hands of those unpredictable San Francisco swells. I have to say my favorite part is at the 22 second mark, when the sailors are falling like lemmings. Watch on though, apparently Oracle CEO Larry Ellison employs sailor ninjas. They can literally flip, turn, and skeedaddle on any turtled vessel. I guess you got to love life when you have Ellison at the helm of your team. In the end a momentary $1M hiccup is nothing compared to sleeping soundly at night knowing The Cup is residing safely at the Golden Gate Yacht Club. If you’re ever in the SF Marina district, go check out that piece of hardware. Bonus: I know from experience that the GGYC has Pabst on tap.
San Francisco, September 7-22, 2013 – The America’s Cup Finals.
If you really know what your doing though, you’ll be at Smitty’s Bar in Sausalito with me and Steve in July ’13, toasting and taking in the Louis Vuitton Cup. You’ll get an inside look at my two favorite challengers: The Swedish Artemis team battling the legendary powerhouse, Emirates New Zealand. Everyone knows, that’s the real dance. Here’s to Fair Winds and Following Seas.
